OUR CRAFT

Embroidery had been a tradition for the women of Lumban and intricate designs are hand-embroidered by young women. Their skills in embroidery are passed on from other relatives and learned at a very young age.

It is interesting to watch the embroiderers at work, knowing that what they do is actually an art and tradition that has been passed on for generations.

Most of the embroiderers learned their craft during their childhood from either their mother or grandmother, who are or were embroiderers themselves.

Lumban boasts of many shops offering ready-made Barong Tagalog for men and women as well as hand-embroidered and hand-painted accessories and gift items.
